Florida’s second recruiting class met a lot of needs for coach Jim McElwain. The major impact of this class should come from the 12 early enrollees and the one graduate transfer who already are on campus.
Even with so many guys in the fold, National Signing Day did not lack for drama. Four-star DE Brian Burns picked FSU, but that may not have been a surprise to Florida coaches. Then there was the decommitment of defensive tackle Shavor Manuel to FSU and the flip of defensive back Aaron Robinson to Alabama. On top off all this, you can throw in Bret Bielema’s comments about the Gators’ recruiting — comments he later clarified — and it was quite the day.
