Each of the three Florida quarterbacks competing to be coach Jim McElwain’s starter brings a different element.
Junior Luke Del Rio has experience with McElwain, starting six games last season. Graduate transfer Malik Zaire is an enticing dual-threat weapon, evident in his three starts at Notre Dame. Redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks has perhaps the biggest asset: He is the prototype of what an elite quarterback looks like with his blend of size and arm strength. The 6-foot-5 Franks told reporters on Friday that he’s up to 238 pounds. That’s elite size for an NFL quarterback.
Franks also is motivated.
