Florida boosted its athletic budget to record heights again this year, and the season-opening matchup with Michigan is one big reason.
The athletic department approved a budget of more than $128 million on Monday, a new high for the school.
The Florida athletic budget last year was about $122.6 million.
A big part of that increase is the huge guarantee – $6 million – that the Gators will receive from playing Michigan in the AdvoCare Classic in Arlington, Texas, on September 2.
That money, the school says, will be used specifically for the football program, as well as “to enhance the football fan experience.
