Florida coach Jim McElwain announced Monday that starting quarterback Luke Del Rio will miss Saturday’s game with South Carolina because of a shoulder injury.
Del Rio did have his knee and shoulder heavily wrapped in ice in Saturday’s loss at Arkansas, and sometimes the adrenaline of the game can propel an athlete to play through pain. Regardless of the injury’s severity, the Gators now have an open quarterback competition this week before a critical game against the Gamecocks.
