The university announced Thursday that Michael White would be the next head coach of the men’s basketball team.
White agreed to a six-year contract with UF that will pay him an average of $2 million per season; Donovan had been making just north of $4 million per season at Florida, and he signed a five-year, $30 million dollar contract to make the jump to coaching the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.
“I have an incredible amount of respect for the University of Florida, and I am so excited to be a Gator,” White said in a release. “Not only is Florida home for me, but the tradition and success that the Gators have built make this an incredible opportunity.
