Special report on the Florida Gators softball team:
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Florida softball team downed No. 15 Alabama, 6-1, to open the series Saturday, April 7, at Rhoads Stadium. Kelly Barnhill (16-1) picked up the win in the circle and limited the Crimson Tide to just one run on three hits.
The Gators (33-5, 8-2 SEC) utilized a pair of walks and a single to load the bases in the top of the first inning. Amanda Lorenz drew a leadoff walk, which was followed up with a single through the right side by Kayli Kvistad. Nicole DeWitt loaded the bases after reaching via a five-pitch walk.
