Florida Gators' Jordan Sherit out against Alabama for SEC championship

The Florida Gators will be without one of their top defensive ends in Saturday's SEC championship game against No. 1 Alabama.

Hillsborough High product Jordan Sherit will miss the game with a leg injury, coach Jim McElwain said Sunday. Sherit left Saturday nights' 31-13 loss at Florida State with the injury and was seen on crutches afterward.

Sherit has started seven games this season, amassing 38 tackles and 3 ½ sacks.

In other injury news, linebacker Jarrad Davis (ankle) will likely be out again. Quarterback Luke Del Rio participated in some warmups Saturday night but would have only been available in a one-play emergency - like starter Austin Appleby getting his helmet knocked off and being forced to sit out a play.
