Florida Gators guard Tyler Jordan on the Seminoles: ‘We don’t like them’

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida and Florida State have been meeting annually since 1958, with Florida holding a 34-24-2 record in the series. Whether you think the Seminoles are the Gators’ biggest rival is a matter of opinion, but Florida sophomore guard Tyler Jordan made the players’ perspective pretty clear.

“I mean last year they came and they cut our turf out of our field, so that makes it personal,” Jordan said. “They’re the people up the road from us and we don’t like them.”

Yes, the Seminoles did literally cut out a piece of the grass from Florida Field (now Steve Spurrier-Florida Field) after their 27-2 win last season to plant in their “sod cemetery,” which has commemorated rivalry road wins, upsets and championship triumphs since 1962.
