A special report from the UAA on the Florida Gators softball team:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Florida defeated North Dakota, 7-1, Wednesday evening at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. Freshman Emily Wilkie broke the game open with her first career grand slam and sophomore Rylee Trlicek (1-0) picked up her first win of the season.
The Gators (18-2) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead over the Fighting Hawks (8-14) in the 1st inning. Charla Echols started a two-out rally with a bouncing single up the middle.
Julia Cottrill extended the inning after she reached on a throwing error by the North Dakota shortstop, which was followed up by a four-pitch walk drawn by Avery Goelz to load the bases.
