The UF proposed 2020-21 athletics operating budget, like many financial forecasts these days, offers an optimistic vision rather a strict blueprint.
Florida athletics director Scott Stricklin called the University Athletic Association’s $141.7 million budget a “starting point” that could very well change due the coronavirus pandemic.
“We put a budget in place — because it is hard to predict — so let’s put a budget in place we can use to make decisions going forward,” Stricklin told the Orlando Sentinel. “If we have to adjust, we can do that.”
Fan-related revenue could be the most obvious area of decline, given reduced crowd sizes could be required to avoid spreading the highly transmissible virus.
