The Florida Gators added their second defensive tackle transfer in as many weeks on Thursday.
Auburn defensive tackle Daquan Newkirk (6-3, 317, Orlando, FL.) announced he’s transferring to Florida on Thursday morning.
“It’s a honor to be coming home, thank you Coach [Dan] Mullen, Coach [David] Turner, Coach [Todd] Grantham, Coach [Wesley] McGriff,” Newkirk tweeted. “Let’s get to work.”
Newkirk played in 10 games this year accounting for 28 tackles, 8 sacks and 3 quarterback hurries, in his career he has played in 30 games for the Tigers.
The defensive tackle will be a grad transfer after starting for Auburn this past year, Newkirk has battled injuries in his career but this season was healthy for the Tigers.
