In 2019, Kamar Wilcoxson committed to play football for the Florida Gators.
And in 2020, Kamar Wilcoxson has once again committed to play football for the Florida Gators.
That’s the surprising result from the recruiting trail this Friday, with Wilcoxson — a four-star cornerback prospect who will attend IMG Academy this fall (if there is an actual fall school term, anyway) — flipping from Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class to Florida’s just under two months after committing to the Vols and just under three months after his second decommitment from Florida.
But while I wrote at that time that fans shouldn’t count on a second reunion with the Gators, Wilcoxson clearly remained in contact with Florida in the weeks since, and now holds the unique statuses of being both the first player to join Florida’s 2021 recruiting class in November 2018 and the 19th player in the class as of this Friday afternoon and being the first high school player in my memory to make three separate commitments to Florida.
