It had been almost a month since Florida's last football commitment. But, late Wednesday, a new one popped: Dual-threat quarterback and athlete Kadarius Toney committed to Florida, as first reported by Gator Country's Andrew Spivey.
Toney gave quotes to Spivey and others, and confirmed the commitment on Twitter with a cheeky retweet of Florida director of player development Drew Hughes.
Toney hails from Mobile, Alabama, a state that the Gators have made inroads into under Jim McElwain, nabbing three players out of the Yellowhammer State in their 2016 recruiting class. He's a three-star prospect per the 247Sports Composite, and doesn't quite fit Florida's plans as a quarterback, the position he's starred at in his school, so he's likely to wear the "athlete" tag that leaves him position-free until he enrolls at a school.
