Florida certainly had a chance to notch a quality road win over South Carolina today, but fell just short in a game that needed five extra minutes to decide.
Sophomore guard Chris Chiozza missed the game-tying three with seconds left in overtime and Gamecocks forward Michael Carrera put the game out of reach with a made free throw — ultimately solidifying the victory for South Carolina.
It was a tough SEC defeat for Florida considering it mounted a 20-0 run after trailing by 17 points in the first half.
With 20 seconds remaining, senior forward Dorian Finney-Smith had an opportunity to break the tie and put the Gators up one from the charity stripe, but only hit one of his two free throws.
