Florida baseball is in Omaha with a chance to win the national title, but it will have to survive the week-and-a-half gauntlet to be the last team standing and hoisting the trophy.
And while we know Alabama baseball is also probably very interested in the betting odds for the CWS, you, as a private citizen that is able to gamble legally, might be interested too.
Without further ado, what are the odds for Florida to emerge with the title?
Florida Baseball: No such thing as a sure thing
Even though Florida is the second-ranked team in the tournament, oddsmakers have the Gators only have Florida tied for the third-best odds to win it all:
- Wake Forest (+275)
- LSU (+380)
- Florida (+450)
- Virginia (+450)
- Tennessee (+750)
- TCU (+800)
- Stanford (+1200)
- Oral Roberts (+2200)
What’s interesting about these odds are two things:
- LSU was given better odds than Florida to win the national title despite the fact that they are on the much more difficult side of the bracket, with Wake Forest, Tennessee, and Stanford standing in their way just to make the final series
- Florida and Virginia have even odds of winning it all, yet in their opening game tomorrow, Florida is a -135 favorite, with Virginia being a +105 underdog.
