Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire, who already has announced he will play this fall as a grad transfer, will make his decision within the next two weeks, Rivals.com reported.
Zaire has been considering Texas, Wisconsin and Florida as grad transfer options and also is reportedly contemplating Harvard. Notre Dame’s graduation ceremonies will take place May 19-21.
An SEC rule instituted in January 2016 is currently preventing Florida from taking Zaire because former grad transfers Mason Halter and Anthony Harrell failed to meet academic requirements in 2015. But SEC commissioner Greg Sankey recently said the league has granted waivers in the past and that the league’s rule is expected to be discussed in late May at the SEC’s Spring Meetings.
