Orlando Edgewater started spring practice this week, which means the Chris Leak era officially has begun at the suburban high school.
Leak, who was hired as Edgewater’s coach about three months ago, was the starting quarterback on Florida’s national championship team in 2006. And even though Leak is the leading passer in school history (11,213 yards, third-most in SEC history, one spot ahead of Peyton Manning), he forever will be overshadowed by the guy who replaced him in Gainesville, Tim Tebow. He shouldn’t be: Leak was one of the most pure quarterbacks to play for the Gators since Danny Wuerffel, and it could be argued that Leak threw the prettiest ball in school history.
