Former Eustis High and University of Florida baseball star Brady Singer, the nation’s top college player this year and a first-round pick of the Kansas City Royals in June, proved on Christmas that sometimes there is crying in baseball.
His mother, Jacquelyn Singer, fought off tears as she read a Christmas letter from her son, who thanked his parents for helping him reach his dreams.
The 22-year-old right-hander, who signed a pro contract in July that included a $4.25-million signing bonus, repaid his parents’ support by paying off their house loan and other debts.
“There’s absolutely no way I could have done all this by myself.
