The No.6 Florida Gators leaned on 51 second half points to defeat Vanderbilt 86-75 on Tuesday night, improving to 19-3 (6-3 SEC) on the 2024/25 season. The Gators shot 64.3% in the final 20 minutes and made 7 of 11 three-point attempts while turning the ball over just twice.
With Florida’s leading scorer Walter Clayton Jr. sidelined with a left ankle injury, the Gators needed someone to step up offensively. After attempting just two shots in Florida’s loss to Tennessee last weekend, senior Will Richard exploded for 21 points on 8-11 shooting including 5-7 from three-point range. Most of Richard’s damage was done in the second half as the 6’4 guard scored 16 points on 6-7 shooting including 4-4 from three-point range while playing the final 20 minutes without leaving the court.
