Florida redshirt junior quarterback Luke Del Rio had shoulder surgery Wednesday, coach Jim McElwain said Thursday. The surgery was on Del Rio's non-throwing left shoulder and he will miss spring practice.
Del Rio suffered a shoulder injury against Arkansas on Nov. 5 that kept him out the rest of the season. Austin Appleby took over.
Del Rio had a knee injury in the season's third game against North Texas, which forced him to miss games at Tennessee and at Vanderbilt. He returned as the starter in wins over Missouri and Georgia.
Redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask will get extensive work during the spring.
