JACKSONVILLE – Much of the pre-game attention before the latest Florida-Georgia game was paid to one of the nation’s most heralded freshman quarterbacks. But it was clear early on that Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason would have little chance against Florida’s feisty defense.
That the favored Gators beat the Bulldogs in Jacksonville a third consecutive time, this one a methodical 24-10 defensive victory, was no real surprise. But that Florida’s defense was that dominant was eye-opening. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel rushed for 22 yards between them; Georgia totaled 164 yards. And the most eye-popping stat of all: Georgia had 13 possessions, seven of which resulted in a three and out.
