I’m guessing most everyone has heard of Airbnb by now. It’s the “home sharing” service allowing people to rent out rooms in their home to travelers at discounted rates when compared to hotels. More than 100 million guest arrivals around the world have been logged through Airbnb listings, with 30,000 Airbnb hosts welcoming more than 1.36 million visitors in Florida in 2015.
Increasingly, college football fans are migrating to the service as an alternative to hotels, which now routinely double, triple, quadruple or more their prices around college football weekends.
GN looked at Airbnb figures in the state of Florida around football weekends as a gauge.
