Florida gymnast Bridget Sloan has been named the SEC's female athlete of the year, the league announced Thursday.
Sloan is the 12th Gator to earn athlete of the year honors since 1984, and this marks the third consecutive year a UF athlete has earned the female honor. Sloan was the NCAA's all-around champion and also shared titles in the uneven bars and balance beam.
Sloan was previously a silver medalist on the United States' 2008 Olympics team.
