In the last quarter of a century, there have been 56 coaching changes in the SEC, a testament to the volatility of a league where expectations don't always meet reality. In two cases, the coaches are 0-0 — Mike Price in his short-lived tenure at Alabama and current Florida coach Jim McElwain.

In 29 cases, the new coach has a better record than his predecessor. In 18 cases, the record was worse. Seven times the new coach won exactly the same number as the previous coach.
