Caleb Brantley has been frustrated this season. He won’t show it, and it won’t get him down, but it’s fair to say Brantley hasn’t lived up to the expectations he bestowed upon himself.
The 6-foot-2, 295-pound redshirt junior entered the season with a strong proclamation.
“I think I’m the best defensive end in the country,” Brantley said Aug. 3.
But due to a series of injuries and a move inside, the Crescent City native entered Saturday’s contest with just 18 tackles and 1.5 sacks on the season.
However, after causing Florida’s most critical defensive play – forcing a fumble from LSU running back Derrius Guice with the Tigers approaching the goal line — Brantley’s early season struggles seemed like a distant memory.
