In the age of trying to increase safety for college athletes, I have some real concerns about a recently surfaced video depicting a makeshift boxing ring in Florida’s locker room.
Yes, you read that correctly: A boxing ring. In the locker room.
The players even looked the part, complete with what appeared to be 14-ounce boxing gloves, mouthpieces and gym shorts to resemble boxing trunks. But one thing that was missing, though, was headgear, and it was clear the participants weren’t holding back.
While no punches appeared to seriously injure anyone, I still have to wonder why this sort of activity would be allowed in a college football locker room.
