A battery complaint against former Florida and current Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Caleb Brantley has been dismissed, court records obtained by the Tampa Bay Times show.
The records show “insufficient evidence to sustain a conviction” led to the dismissal.
The case began with an incident that took place early on the morning of April 13. The events that followed have been disputed since the encounter. The first Gainesville Police Department report listed Brantley as the victim and said a University of Florida student, Chelsea Austin, punched him initially, which led to him pushing her. A second report four days later accused Brantley of punching Austin and knocking her unconscious; her legal team claimed she suffered an injury that led to extensive medical treatment.
