Bama, UF went different directions after SEC title game in 2009

- Urban Meyer remembers his three trips to the SEC Championship Game well. He’d just like to forget one of them.

“I’d rather focus on 2006 and 2008,” he said.

We all know why. Alabama handled Florida in 2009 by a 32-13 score that left Tim Tebow in tears on the sideline. The loss ended Florida’s perfect season, but it did more than that.

It changed the direction of two programs.

Alabama went on to win a national title and went on to win 70 of its next 80 games, winning two more national crowns and making the first College Football Playoff.
