Adam Sparks of The Tennessean answers five questions about the Vanderbilt Commodores heading into Saturday’s visit from the No. 14 Florida Gators.
1. A six-win season in 2016 earned coach Derek Mason a raise and a three-year contract extension. The Commodores are 1-9 in the SEC since then and seem to be returning to the Vanderbilt of old. What are the signs of progress and the red flags in Year 4 under Mason?
I may be in the minority here, but I think it’s too early to judge this season. Sure, Vandy is only 3-3, but historically that’s not bad for the Commodores.
