3-star 2019 safety Marcus Tillman Jr. de-commits from Gators, but UF still in mix

Florida has lost one of its 2019 recruits who was expected to help restore the Gators’ DBU credentials. Now, can Dan Mullen and his staff bring him back into the fold?

Three-star safety Marcus Tillman Jr. de-committed from the Gators on Wednesday, announcing his decision on Twitter. He said, though, that he still considered Florida “at the top of my list.”

Tillman specifically mentioned former Gators head coach Jim McElwain, wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon and defensive backs coach Corey Bell as key figures in his recruitment. All three are no longer with the Florida program.

Tillman, a 6-foot, 195-pound safety, is rated as a three-star prospect in the 247Sports composite.
