The Florida Gators won the SEC East, but a loss to Florida State in their regular season finale will keep them out of the New Year's Six bowl unless they beat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. As we head towards the postseason, here are Florida's three most likely opponents in a bowl game:
Baylor Bears
Florida will play in the Sugar Bowl if they find a way to win the SEC title, and if that's the case, the Bears would be there waiting for them. Baylor is almost guaranteed to fill the Big 12's allotment in the Sugar Bowl as the highest ranked team from the conference that's not in the College Football Playoff. However, if Baylor loses to Texas this weekend, TCU would take this spot.
Northwestern Wildcats
There will be two Big Ten vs. SEC matchups on New Year's Day in the Outback Bowl and Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, and Florida is widely expected to be in one of those games. There are a vareity of high-quality Big Ten teams the Gators could face, and a battle between two 10-win teams could be intriguing to both schools and the fans.
Michigan Wolverines
However, the matchup both the Outback Bowl and Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl are clamoring for is Michigan-Florida. Two of the most prestigious programs in the country with two of the most passionate fan bases would fill seats and generate a lot of interest, and they're both ranked in the top 20. Expect this matchup to happen on New Year's Day.
