The Florida Gators are still in the midst of spring practice in preparation for the 2016 season, but that doesn't mean head coach Jim McElwain and his staff have taken a step back on the recruiting trail. Here are all the latest news and rumors surrounding Florida football recruiting.
Five-Star CB Deangelo Gibbs Visiting
Gibbs is visiting UF this weekend, reports 247Sports, along with four-star LB and Georgia commit Breon Dixon. Gibbs had planned to visit UF in the past, but had yet to make a visit. That is no longer the case, and the coaching staff will get a chance to pitch Gibbs on spurning in-state Georgia. Gibbbs is the No. 10 player in the nation, No. 2 CB and No. 1 player from the state of Georgia.
Gators In Mix For Four-Star DB
Four-star CB William Poole III was going to make his commitment, but a visit to Florida last week changed his mind, Poole told 247Sports.
"I just didn’t really want to jump the ship," Poole said. "I wanted to make sure I knew my best interest in what school I wanted to go to, so I just put everything on hold for now."
Poole said the Gators and Florida are tied at the moment. He's the No. 12 CB and No. 101 overall recruit in the nation.
UF Target Sets Commitment Date
Three-star CB Latavious Brini has set his commitment date. Per 247Sports, Brini will make his decision on April 11th. Brini was on campus Friday, and will check out Miami (FL) later this week. He holds offers from Alabama, UF, Florida State, LSU, Miami and several others. The Gators are the favorites, but there's no guaranteed he'll commit.
