The Florida Gators hosted five-star Gordo (AL) linebacker Ben Davis on Friday, and Davis came away very impressed with his overall experience in Gainesville.
“I loved it,” Davis said to 247Sports’ David Lake. “I liked it down there. It was my first time down there in Gainesville. Coach [Geoff] Collins is my recruiting coach, I got to talk to Coach [Jim] McElwain, but yeah, I had fun.”
Davis added that he was a bit surprised about just how much he enjoyed the trip.
“Florida, they were better than I thought it was,” Davis admitted. “I like the coaches, they got a relationship with the players. I’m anxious to get back down there.
“McElwain said I could come early and play, and he would love to coach me. He’s going to continue to recruit me hard.”
Currently ranked as the #18 overall prospect in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports, Davis is considered to be a heavy Alabama lean. However, he contends that no school is out in front at the present moment.
“There ain’t no top schools right now,” Davis said. “All the schools that have offered me, I’m interested in them."
