After the best game of his young career against the Vanderbilt Commodores this past Saturday, Florida Gators quarterback Treon Harris was named the SEC Co-Freshman of the Week.
Harris shares that honor with Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb.
In just his second start with the team, Harris posted a career-high 215 passing yards in the Gators' 34-10 victory over Vanderbilt. He also ran the ball for 49 yards and had two touchdowns in a big-time performance in Nashville.
Per Antonya English of the Tampa Bay Times, "Harris' 215 passing yards were the most for true freshman Florida QB since Chris Leak in the 2004 Outback Bowl (268)."
He finished 13-for-21 on the afternoon, attempting 15 more passes than he did during the Gators' upset victory over the Georgia Bulldogs the week before. He had a 48-yard and 60-yard strike to his credit as well, showing that he the tools necessary to create big plays with his arm.
