When thinking of football stadium names you either think of classics like Soldiers Field or modern sponsored names like Ford Field. So when Florida Atlantic University finalized a 12-year, $6 million dollar deal to name their gorgeous new field GEO Group Stadium one would not think much of this simple name.
Upon further examination, GEO Group who bought the naming rights for the stadium is one of the largest for-profit prison companies in the United States. Even creepier, if you 
look closely at the GEO logo you can see that the "O" in their logo features a map, as if to symbolize prison walls surrounding the globe. I don't know about you, but that is just downright creepy.
As if this story could not get any better, there have been reports that with this new press GEO Group is trying to adjust their wikipedia page to erase reports of abuse at their prisons.
So let me get this straight, you let a company that has allegedly abused prisoners name the stadium that you want mothers and fathers to send their son's to play in every Saturday? Yeah, this really does not seem to add up.
Well it is not like FAU did not know what they were getting themselves into when they signed GEO Group to the stadium deal. We will just have to see how this plays out as more is surely to come of this.
