Five 2016 Recruits That Every Florida Fan Needs To Know

The Florida Gators brought in a top recruiting class on National Signing Day headlined by two top 10 overall recruits, OL Martez Ivey and DE CeCe Jefferson. Head coach Jim McElwain has already turned his attention to the Class of 2016, and here are his top targets:

DE Shavar Manuel

Manuel is the top-ranked defensive end in the country and the third-best overall prospect, making him another big catch for Florida if they can bring him in. His elite explosiveness and athleticism also have Florida State, Miami, and Alabama interested, but the Gators are hoping to keep the Tampa native close to home.

CB Saivion Smith

Smith is the top-rated cornerback in the nation thanks to his supreme athleticism and elite ball skills. The St. Petersburg native wants to stay close to home as he’s considering Florida, Florida State, Miami, and LSU.

S Deontay Anderson

Florida a making a strong push for the five-star safety, trying to take him away from Texas and Texas A&M, who are favorites to land him. Anderson is 6’1″ and 195 pounds, and plays a hard-hitting style that will serve him well at the next level.

ATH Trevon Diggs

Diggs is the brother of former Maryland WR Stefon Diggs, who left school early to enter this year's NFL Draft. Diggs has elite speed and athleticism to be an impact player on either side of the ball, but his versatility would be best used in a Percy Harvin-type role. Florida is competing with Maryland and Penn State for Diggs.

CB Trayvon Mullen

Mullen is a true speedster that has great technique and coverage skills, giving him the potential to be a shutdown corner at the next level. He has good size at 6'2", but needs to add weight on his 175-pound frame. Florida is battling with Alabama, Clemson, and LSU for Mullen's services.
