The Florida Gators have found an anchor for their offensive line for years to come, as five-star Apopka (FL) offensive tackle Martez Ivey chose the Gators over fellow finalist Auburn in a televised announcement Wednesday from Apopka High School.
Named first-team All-USA by USA Today back in December, the 6-foot-5.5, 275-pound Ivey was a dominant prep force who turned heads from day one.
That was enough for the deceptively quick and agile Ivey to garner a 2015 US Army All-American Bowl selection and to be given a coveted spot in "The Opening," Nike's all-star summer prospect camp. He's also ranked as the #1 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports, and the #2 prospect overall in their composite rankings.
Ivey has NFL level potential that will likely only be increased by repeated reps in the weight room. However, that's for another day, as the talented offensive lineman gets ready to make an impact in Gainesville.
