BOCA RATON — Nearly three weeks after first arriving at Florida Atlantic, Rafe Peavey still has one thing he’s yet to do.
“I haven’t been able to go the beach,” Peavey said with a grin. “I can see it from the press box and I still haven’t been able to go down.”
Hopeful he’d have a chance to finally start at the FBS level after primarily being a backup quarterback at both Arkansas and SMU, Peavey transferred to FAU less than a week into fall camp. With the allure of playing under Lane Kiffin too much to pass up, Peavey made what he called a “split-second decision” to join the Owls and enter a quarterback competition between redshirt junior and former “Last Chance U” star De’Andre Johnson and redshirt freshman Chris Robison.
