BOCA RATON — Call it tempering expectations, but if Florida Atlantic upsets Central Florida on Friday night, Owls head coach Lane Kiffin doesn’t see it as taking down the “national champions.”
“It would mean we would be 3-1, which would be good,” Kiffin deadpanned this week.
It will take everything the Owls, who at 2-1 are off to their best start since 2007, have to take down a UCF (2-0) team which hasn’t lost since December 2016. The No. 16 Knights enter Friday night’s game (7 p.m., ESPN) with a 15-game winning streak dating back to last season and went a perfect 13-0 last season, winning both the American Athletic Conference and the Peach Bowl.
