BOCA RATON — The weeks leading up to Florida Atlantic’s showdown with No. 7 Oklahoma on Sept. 1 have become days, as the Owls will hold their final scrimmage of the summer Saturday afternoon at FAU Stadium.
The scrimmage, which begins at noon and is closed to fans, is the final test before the Owls travel to Norman next week. Chris Robison, De’Andre Johnson, and SMU transfer Rafe Peavey are all battling for the quarterback job previously held by Jason Driskel, who retired in January to focus on obtaining his engineering degree. The three have combined to throw only seven passes at the Division I level, though Johnson started for East Mississippi Community College in 2016 and has made strides in his return from blood clots which cost him nearly all of last year.
