BOCA RATON — For now, Florida Atlantic redshirt junior De’Andre Johnson is staying at quarterback.
At least, that’s what FAU coach Lane Kiffin wants. Kiffin firmly shot down the idea of Johnson, a former four-star recruit who signed with Florida State out of high school, moving from quarterback to another position.
“He’s a really good quarterback,” Kiffin said.
After competing with redshirt freshman Chris Robison and graduate student Rafe Peavey for the starting quarterback job, Johnson began this year as the Owls’ No. 3 quarterback. Johnson was the first quarterback to relieve Robison in Saturday’s 49-28 win over Bethune-Cookman, completing his lone pass for 11 yards and running for a 21-yard touchdown early in the 4th quarter.
