BOCA RATON — It’s not a word or a gesture that calms Florida Atlantic safety Jalen Young down or excites the lively, hyperactive Seminole Ridge alumnus.
When Young wants a boost, whether the Owls are up 30 points or trailing late in a game, he only needs to look at linebacker and longtime teammate Azeez Al-Shaair.
“When he’s on the field in front of me, I’m just looking at him like, ‘I got (number) two, we’re good,” Young said, referencing Al-Shaair’s number. “Not only is that one of my closest friends, but that’s a partner and a leader.
