Michael Penix Jr. replaces Kirk Cousins as Falcons' starting QB

The Atlanta Falcons are making a change at quarterback, with coach Raheem Morris announcing Tuesday night that rookie Michael Penix Jr. will be the team's starter moving forward.

The decision comes hours after Morris was largely noncommittal when asked if Kirk Cousins would start Sunday against the New York Giants. In previous weeks, Morris had been firm that Cousins would be the team's starting quarterback moving forward -- but that was not the case Tuesday.

"After review we have made the decision Michael Penix Jr. will be the Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback moving forward," Morris said in a statement released by the team.
