Men’s basketball: FAU fails to overcome poor shooting in loss to UAB

Florida Atlantic men’s basketball was unable to overcome a tough shooting night in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday night, falling 79-59 to the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

The Owls (10-18, 6-11 Conference USA) shot 34 percent from the field for the game, including just 6-of-24 from three-point territory. Senior Adonis Filer led the Owls with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

FAU started the game just 4-of-12 from the field and found itself in a 14-point deficit in the first eight minutes of the game. However, after trailing by 18 points with 6:18 left in the first half, the Owls went on an 11-0 run over the next three minutes, cutting the lead to 32-25.
