Jupiter High grad Kylee Hanson threw a 6-0 shutout against Alabama-Birmingham as the Florida Atlantic Owls took home the first Conference USA title in school history Saturday in Denton, Texas.
The Owls (50-7), who owned an RPI rating of 23 as of May 8, will likely be a No. 2 seed at one of the 16 regionals of the NCAA Tournament, which begins next week.
The NCAA selection show will be televised at 10 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU.
Hanson, the junior righty who was the 2012 Sun Sentinel large-school player of the year, logged her 15th shutout of the season, improving her record to 28-3 and ERA to 0.
