Florida Atlantic began Lane Kiffin’s coaching career in Boca Raton with a lightning-delayed 42-19 loss to Navy on Friday night in the longest game in school history
The FAU offense officially ran only 57 plays from scrimmage, a far cry from the up-tempo Baylor system Kendal Briles installed with the Owls. FAU only had the ball for 20:13 as Navy’s triple-option offense held possession for 39:47.
Navy’s offense pounded the Owls defense for 526 total yards, including 416 on the ground. Azeez Al-Shaair led FAU with 14 tackles and Chris Tooley added a fourth-quarter interception.
