BOCA RATON — When Florida Atlantic offensive lineman Nick Weber takes the field at Joseph Carter Park in Fort Lauderdale for a scrimmage on Saturday morning, the former Marjory Stoneman Douglas guard will be without one of his biggest supporters.
Weber’s former offensive line coach at Stoneman Douglas, the man who helped prepare him for eventually walking on at FAU, was Aaron Feis, a school security guard killed in February’s massacre which left 17 dead. Feis was hailed a hero for sacrificing himself to protect his students from shooter Nikolas Cruz.
“It’s been like a month now,” Weber said this week.
