BOCA RATON — As teammates rapped along to songs on a practice playlist, Florida Atlantic quarterback De’Andre Johnson quietly said a prayer upon taking the field Friday morning.
It was almost a year ago when Johnson, the former “Last Chance U” star who’d been bothered by a nagging arm injury throughout fall camp, was brought to the emergency room two days before a 31-17 loss to Wisconsin on Sept. 9 with blood clots in his arm.
“I remember sitting in the hospital bed and the doctor saying, ‘Hey, if you had gotten on that airplane to go to Wisconsin, you probably would’ve died,” Johnson said.
