BOCA RATON — One of the top prospects in Florida Atlantic’s 2018 signing class will not play for the Owls this season, as former Alabama and Hutchinson Community College (Ks.) running back B.J. Emmons announced he’s taking this season off from football.
Per a story from The News Herald (N.C.), Emmons spoke at a youth camp this weekend and told campers that, rather than reporting to FAU after signing with the Owls on Feb. 7, he’d be spending the fall in his hometown watching his former high school team play. Emmons believes sitting out this season from football while completing classes at Hutchinson online would count as a redshirt season, allowing him to play somewhere as a redshirt junior in 2019.
