BOCA RATON — Chris Robison wasn’t going to ignore the similarities between himself and the convict-turned-motivation speaker who spent a night with the Florida Atlantic Owls last month.
Both Robison and Ryan Leaf, the 2nd overall pick by San Diego in the 1998 NFL Draft, signed with blue blood college football programs after thriving as elite high school quarterbacks. Both were dangerous gunslingers in their own right, with Leaf’s arm landing him a scholarship to Washington State and Robison taking his talents to Oklahoma.
But Leaf wasn’t just talking to the Owls about his experiences in the NFL and how one gets drafted.
